Spurs star Eriksen in terrific form against Norwich

Christian Eriksen was in terrific form for Tottenham Hotspur as they drew 2-2 with Norwich City on Saturday.

On the chalkboard

The 94-cap Denmark international grew into the game, much like his team, at Carrow Road.

He had 118 touches of the ball throughout the 90 minutes, a significantly higher number than any other player on the pitch in the east midlands.

He had four shots on goal and scored with one of them, sending an excellent free-kick past Tim Krul to cancel out Mario Vrancic’s opener.

Eriksen also registered a pass completion rate of 88% and provided two key passes in total.

While he did not complete a dribble, the 27-year-old made three interceptions and won one tackle in a strong showing.

Perhaps the only disappointing aspect of his performance was his lack of accuracy from corners; he did not lay on a single accurate cross from the flank.

Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?

Difficult to replace

This could well be the last time we see Eriksen in a Spurs shirt.

The transfer window opens soon enough and there is every chance that a rival club – be it a Premier League outfit or a foreign team such as Juventus – could deem it worthwhile to table a bid. His contract, after all, expires in the summer.

If this was his last outing, he proved that he will be sorely missed – and that he will be a difficult player to replace. Eriksen was able to get his foot on the ball as Spurs pressed for a winner and was the chief creator on the pitch.

This time, it didn’t lead to a breakthrough and to three points but it gave them a chance.

If he does go, Spurs must find a direct replacement whether in January or in the summer, but they won’t find that task easy.

Meanwhile, Mourinho must bring the best out of one man at Spurs.
